“The SCHOMS scheme was invaluable in being able to meet people who have been before and work in the same field.”
One of the benefits of SCHOMS membership is being able attend Integrated Systems Europe Show, a joint venture between InfoComm International® and the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA), as part of the SCHOMS UK Hosted Buyer scheme.
This year 58 SCHOMS members, a new record number for the scheme, travelled to the three-day AV tradeshow – Europe’s largest – held at the Amsterdam RAI from 10-12 February.
ISE gives HE attendees the opportunity to explore and research emerging technologies for teaching and learning and look at potential future practices with a view to how they can be implemented within member institutions.
ISE2015 attracted more than 1,000 exhibitors and almost 60,000 visitors with the emphasis on four key technology areas – digital signage, smart building, unified communications and residential solutions.
Positive feedback from SCHOMS delegates who attended is now being used to plan an even more rewarding presence next year.
Members were asked to complete an evaluation survey so that the validity of the scheme and their experiences in Amsterdam could be analysed to help improve future visits.
Some conclusions were:
86% found the overall content of the event excellent
72% strongly agreed that their institution had benefited from their attendance
72% strongly agreed that is was good value and a good use of time.
90% thought the venue, catering and facilities provided by the SCHOMS Lounge was either ‘excellent’ (38%) or ‘good’ (52%)
Comments received included:
“This was best ISE I have had so far, probably down to more planning on my behalf. The visit will cause us to spend money with suppliers that were there (and save a fair bit).”
“Having the SCHOMS lounge at ISE is a massive advantage to attendees.”
The presentation by Kramer was considered the most informative and useful. 65% singled them out with one attendee describing it as ‘entertaining, honest and insightful’. Another commented: ‘It was the only one with new technology and products’ and Kramer were also praised for giving a balanced view on practical applications of AV developments.
“Overall the feedback is very positive and constructive,” said David Evans, SCHOMS Executive member charged with planning the visit. “We will continue to work with both InfoComm and ISE to help ensure that the experience for the members attending is both positive and rewarding.”
